Canadian Bianca Andrescu won a decisive victory in the second round of the Madrid Open

Bianca Andrescu from Canada advanced to the third round of the Madrid Open with a victory against American Daniel Collins on Sunday.

Andrescu, who is playing in his second tournament after a month-long absence, quickly overcame the sixth-ranked American, winning 6-1, 6-1.

The 21-year-old football player from Mississauga, Ont., Will face the winner of the match between Jessica Pegula from the USA and Kaya Kanepi from Estonia.

Leila Ani Fernandez of Laval, Quebec, ranked 20th in the world, was beaten 6-4, 6-4 by Switzerland’s Gilles Taichman on Sunday.

Fernandez made his debut in the main draw of Madrid on Friday with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 victory over German qualifier Andrea Petkovic.
