From Adam Himmelsbach
The Celtics struggled with claws and struggled to finish a huge comeback against the Bucks on Saturday afternoon, before a chaotic final series left them short.
With the Celtics trailing by three points, Marcus Smart was fouled beyond the 3-point line with 4.6 seconds left. A non-firing offense was convicted, although Boston disagreed. Nevertheless, Smart committed the first foul and deliberately missed the second, knocking the ball off the backboard before coming together. But his short shot missed, Robert Williams’ high point was ruled out, and Horford’s high point came just moments after the final bell, allowing the Bucks to escape with a 103-101 victory and a 2-1 lead in the series.

Pat Connauton (born in Arlington) withdrew the charge.
Let’s see how this challenge develops.

WATCH: Janice takes Grant on a ride – 17:10
Officials reconsidered whether the defensive foul against Grant Williams had risen to the level of a screamer, and decided it was just a simple foul.
Williams tried to stop Janice Adetokunmpo, and his hand was swept away by Janice.
Janice fell to the ground and seemed to think that Williams was trying to push him.

What the Celtics can enjoy at the moment – 16:54
The Celtics should be happy with the four-point lead after the start of the half. Hell, they’d probably be happy with a four-point deficit. The Bucks controlled the game, and Janice Adetokunmpo played some of her best basketball in the series.
But the Celtics held on despite Jason Tatum’s six points in 2 of 9 shots. The two teams combined 7 of 36 out of three, so the shots don’t fall for much.
Halftime statistics check – 16:51

The challenge fails, so give credit to Grant Williams – 16:10
Mike Budenholzer used his challenge early, calling for a review of an offensive foul committed by Janice Adetokunmpo. Officials stayed with their decision, so give credit to Grant Williams for staying in the lane. The first quarter was early for a challenge, but perhaps Budenholzer wanted to avoid Adetokunmpo committing two fouls in the first quarter.
Budenholzer used his challenge – 16:08
He has a problem with an offensive foul, ruled against Antetokounmpo with 38.9 left in the first quarter.
