And now it’s time for something completely different: composer Danny Elfman is the oldest performer to take part in this year’s Coachella edition, which focuses on youth. But based on his eclectic open-air theater show late Saturday night (April 16), his age is the least unusual thing for him.

Coachella says goodbye to the innovative boy band Brockhampton – review
After nearly a decade of pushing boundaries and breaking the rules, the 21st century’s most innovative boy gang has decided to call it the day.
Taking over the huge air hangar, which is the stage of the Sahara at the Coachella Music Festival on Saturday (April 16), the sprawling Texas band Brockhampton decided to hang their hats forever. Well, at least that’s what fans were told in January this year when they revealed on social media that they were going to take an “indefinite break” after Coachella, while thanking fans for their support over the past eight years.
However, after the spectacular hour tonight, the video screens reveal that they are not ready yet. When the band leaves the stage, a pre-recorded video of de facto frontman Kevin Abstract flashes as he talks to his bandmates. He has something to tell them, he says. The screens then darken, leaving nothing but the words, “Brockhampton. The final album. 2022. ” If the audience hadn’t gone crazy enough during the set, that’s enough to make them lose it completely.

Disclosure, joined by Khalid and brass band during the high-energy rave set
The last time Surrey-born brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence played Coachella was in 2016, when they enriched their live show with a number of high-profile guest vocalists, including Lord (for “Magnets”), Sam Smith (for “Latch” and ” Omen ”) and AlunaGeorge (for White Noise).
By these high standards, tonight’s performance was a bit of a surprise – except for the appearance of Khalid later for the first live performance of their collaboration in 2020, “Know Your Worth”. Perhaps this is a sign that the Lawrence brothers are now more confident in their own ability to keep the Coachella audience captive with minimal bells and whistles.
For more than a decade in their career as minors, the couple have become experienced experts in delivering high-energy rave so far. Coachella’s audience is more than willing to meet them halfway and they are in effect for the duo’s sunset, a euphoric performance with hands in the air. “We want to see maximum energy, maximum vibrations tonight,” the brothers announced. It is fair to say that their wish has been granted.
“When the fire starts to burn” makes the whole crowd move in unison as the phone lights flash to illuminate “Nocturnal”. Although he played at the festival yesterday, there is no trace of Slowthai except in pre-recorded form on the big screens for the Grammy-nominated thunder “My High”.

Jackson Wang’s surprise appearance is all Twitter can talk about
While Disclosure is busy attracting one of the biggest crowds over the weekend to the open-air theater, 88rising is doing its equally impressive thing on Coachella’s main stage.
The first record label of its kind to receive its own showcase at the festival, the band does not take this honor lightly.
Since 2015, 88rising has been working with artists and creators from all over Asia, and tonight the Los Angeles-based company attracts big boys and girls for an 80-minute extravaganza with an epic list of names, as well as a troupe of dancers and a multi-layered stage.
A mini version of 88rising’s own hugely successful Head in the Clouds festival, this is the perfect variety show in pots – featuring Thai rapper Millie, South Korean singer, songwriter Bibi and Jakarta-born singer Nikki, as well as Indonesian rappers Rich Brian and Warren Hugh.
However, it is the unannounced appearance of Chinese superstar Jackson Wang that really makes the festival lose its collective mind.
With his silver-blue hair and red gloves on a majestic display, the screaming Wang sneaks in ten minutes of Michael Jackson-inspired choreography with a dignified taste of a Las Vegas wizard, leaving many fans more than happy to arrive, but he also wonders why he wasn’t on stage for at least an hour.
