Concord, NH Murders of Husband, Wife Under Investigation – NBC Boston

Authorities continue to investigate the shooting of a couple last month in Concord, New Hampshire.

Stephen Reed, 67, and Jesvende Reed, 66, were reported missing on April 20. Two days earlier, they had gone for a walk in the Broken Ground Trails area. Their bodies were found on April 21, and each was shot several times.

“This is not happening here,” said Sinde Warmington of the New Hampshire Executive Board. “It’s very worrying.”

Police have since stepped up patrols on the trails with the help of the sheriff’s office and the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. The Prosecutor General’s Office is leading the investigation and sharing some information with the public.

“I talk to the Attorney General about this almost every day,” said Governor Chris Sununu.

The governor says he believes in the Concord Police Department and other agencies investigating the killings.

“The Attorney General’s office, the FBI, is doing everything it can to find out exactly what happened,” Sununu said. “I think they will not give up until this person or these people are brought to justice.

Attorney General John Formela said there was no evidence that the community was at risk, although police had stepped up patrols on the trails.

“I think they say, for some reason, they believe it’s an event, but obviously every time you have something as horrific as a double murder in your community, everyone should be on the alert,” Sununu said.

Warmington says the case is on everyone’s mind.

“What I hear from my constituents is fear and a real desire to resolve this and to know what happened here so that we can be safe on the trail,” she said.

Authorities are asking for public help and say they have received more than 70 pieces of advice so far.
