Tamara Leach was awarded the George Jonas Freedom Prize for her role in organizing the Freedom Convoy truck protest, which drew international attention to the occupation of downtown Ottawa in February.

The Calgary-based Center for Justice for Constitutional Freedom (JCCF) will present the Leach Prize on June 16 at a ceremony in Toronto. National Post columnist Rex Murphy is expected to be the keynote speaker.
George Jonas (1935-2016) is a famous Canadian writer, poet and columnist who writes about the importance of freedoms. The award recognizes and honors one person each year who has made a significant contribution to advancing and maintaining freedom in Canada.
Leach was charged on February 17 with leading the convoy in mischief, advising mischief, intimidation, advising intimidation, advising, obstructing the police and obstructing the police. The allegations have not been proven in court.
Leach was initially denied bail, but that decision was overturned on March 7 after a review. She was released on $ 25,000 bail on condition not to protest COVID’s mandates or use any form of social media, and was ordered to return to her home in Medicine Hat, Alta.
