The number of patients in a COVID-19 hospital in Ontario reached 1,090 on Monday, with three more deaths related to the disease reported.
Data on hospitalizations on Monday increased from a total of 977 on Sunday. However, not all hospitals reported weekend patient data.
Information on incidental hospitalizations and vaccination status of inpatients was not published.

At the same time, the number of patients in the intensive care unit increased from 11 to 184. This number has been increasing for almost a week.
Ontario laboratories have identified 2,401 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours through 12,149 tests. This led to a positive percentage of 17.6 percent, according to the province.
The number of laboratory-confirmed cases reported today is underestimated due to limited access to PCR testing across the province.
With three additional deaths due to COVID-19 reported on Sunday, the number of deaths in Ontario was 12,566.
Ontario has observed 1,198,319 laboratory-confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic, including 1,154,050 cured.
The province’s chief medical officer will speak to the media on Monday afternoon for the first time in nearly a month.
Dr. Kieran Moore last spoke publicly on March 13.
Since then, hospitalizations related to the disease have increased, and wastewater data suggest that the new coronavirus is spreading in a way that the province’s scientific advice table describes as the sixth wave.
