The number of patients with COVID-19 in a hospital in Ontario is 1,301, as the number of people admitted to the intensive care unit related to the disease exceeds the limit of 200 for the first time since mid-March.
Monday’s report saw an increase of 1,290 patients in hospital on Sunday and 1,130 on Saturday.
Information related to accidental hospitalizations and data on vaccination against COVID-19 of the hospitalized was not published. It should also be noted that not all hospitals in the province reported patient data over the weekend.

Admission to the intensive care unit associated with the new coronavirus has exceeded 200 for the first time since March 16. There are currently at least 202 patients receiving intensive care – an increase of 17 from Saturday.
The province did not report data on COVID-19 on Easter.
The modeling of COVID-19, published by the Ontario Science Table last week, suggests that hospital occupancy will continue to rise in the coming weeks and that the province can see more than 600 people in the intensive care unit at the peak of this wave at worst script.
In context, during the peak of the latest wave of COVID-19 in Ontario earlier this year, intensive care units reached 626.
However, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran Moore said the province’s health system could provide adequate care for these individuals if intensive care admissions actually returned to the levels seen in January.
Meanwhile, three additional deaths were reported on Saturday due to COVID-19, raising the number of deaths in the province to 12,632.
At least 4,669 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the last 48 hours, although this number is underestimated against the background of limited access to PCR testing throughout the province.
These cases were identified by 20,511 tests, which the province said generated positive results of 19.5% on Saturday and 18.7 on Sunday.
Ontario observed 1,222,243 cases of COVID-19 during the pandemic, including 1,174,111 cured.
Background:
The numbers used in this story are in the Ontario Department of Health’s daily epidemiological summary COVID-19. The number of cases for each city or region may differ slightly from that reported by the province, as local units report figures at different times.
Health experts say the number of COVID-19 infections identified in fully vaccinated individuals will naturally increase as more people receive both vaccines.
