The wreckage of a Cessna seaplane has been found in Strachan Bay on B.C.’s central coast two days after it crashed with three people on board, RCMP said.
Corporal Alex Berube said in an email Friday that a team from the RCMP West Coast Marine Service found the wreckage while searching the crash site.
An RCMP dive team is en route to Strachan Bay to assist with further search efforts on Friday.
The Transportation Safety Board is also sending investigators.
The plane went down Wednesday during a flight from a logging camp on the Central Coast to Port Hardy, British Columbia, 50 kilometers south on Vancouver Island.
The initial search after the crash was reported turned up no sign of wreckage or survivors.
Berube said Friday that the pilot and two passengers were still missing.
The seaplane belonged to Air Cab, a coastal charter business based in the Coal Harbor community on Vancouver Island. The company installs tracking devices on all of its planes, but President Joel Eilersten said Thursday that they don’t work underwater.
