Cristiano Ronaldo and his wife Georgina Rodriguez shared the first photo of their newborn baby girl after her twin brother died.
The parents captured their first moments at home with their new daughter after announcing their loss earlier.
The football world has come together in support of the Manchester United striker following his family’s tragedy earlier this week.
The couple said it was time to be “grateful” for the new life they welcomed to the world, as they thanked supporters for their sympathy.
Liverpool fans teamed up with their rivals at Anfield on Tuesday to pay tribute to Ronaldo in the seventh minute of the match.
Fans of the “reds” sang the anthem of the club “You will never go alone” in honor of the 37-year-old Portuguese striker, who missed the match after the death of his son.
Sharing a photo of their family welcoming the new baby home, the couple wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday (April 21st): “Home, sweet home.
“Gio and our little girl are finally with us. We want to thank everyone for their kind words and gestures.
“Your support is very important and we all felt the love and respect you feel for our family.
“Now is the time to be grateful for the life we have just accepted into this world.”
Ronaldo’s teammate Marcus Rashford was among the football stars who paid tribute to the Man Yu striker.
He published a series of emojis of the heart in response to Ronaldo’s post on Thursday night.
The twins, born on April 18, were the couple’s fifth and sixth children together.
The couple announced their loss earlier this week in a joint statement.
It read: “It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of our boy. This is the greatest pain any parent can experience. Only the birth of our little girl gives us the strength to live this moment with a little hope and happiness.
“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated by this loss and we kindly ask for your privacy at this very difficult time.
“Our boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
