As everyone could have predicted (we understood this correctly, but we won’t pat him on the back), the Bad guys lost their somewhat surprising place at the top of the box office after three weeks, thanks to the debut of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness this weekend reached $ 185 million. Not only is this the highest debut of the year, it’s more than the total gross for any other weekend this year – which means it made more money this weekend than any other movie put together on any other weekend. That’s a lot of money, you know. (Not exactly Spider-Man’s money: No Way Home, as Benedict Cumberbatch predicts, but still impressive.)
Everything after Dr. Strange is almost identical to the last few weeks, so let’s talk about Dr. Strange a little more: it opened in 4,500 cinemas, which is huge, but before you accuse Marvel Studios and Disney of harassing theater chains and raping Bruce Road up to that $ 185 million by putting the film on each screen, its average screen value ($ 40,000) is significantly higher than anything else in the charts. This means that it is played on many screens and all these screens earn a ton of money each. Surprise, surprise! Marvel movies are popular!
But now let’s talk about those other movies, some of which we’ve been talking about for seven weeks. The Bad Boys are only $ 60 million in total, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 surpassed the total gross of the first film (which had the flaw to start against COVID), Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore almost five weeks later, as Dr. Strange did in one , Everything everywhere and all at once slipped away again (people have so much time only for movies with multiverses), The Northerner stays, The Lost City remains in seventh place for the second week in a row, The unbearable weight of the huge talent drops to only $ 1.5 million, something , called Memory, appears, although we don’t remember what it’s about, and in the end, Father Stu is … still there. Dr. Strange has performed in more than 4,000 boys’ theaters. You don’t have to watch the movie with Mel Gibson!
Here’s this top 10 list again in a format that is less informative and less fun to read, but obviously good for Google search results. You can also see the same list in the Mojo Box Office.
