Elon Musk says he’ll step down as Twitter CEO when he finds ‘stupid enough’ replacement | Elon Musk

Elon Musk said Tuesday he will step down as Twitter CEO after finding a replacement.

“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone stupid enough to take the job! After that, I’ll just manage the software and server teams,” Musk wrote on Twitter.

It’s the first time Musk has hinted at stepping down as head of the social media platform after Twitter users voted overwhelmingly in a poll for him to step down, which the billionaire launched on Sunday night.

Wall Street calls for Musk to step down have been growing for weeks, and recently even Tesla Inc bulls have questioned his focus on the social media platform and whether it is distracting him from properly managing the electric vehicle business, where he is at the center of the product design and engineering.

Musk himself admitted he had too much going on and said he would be looking for a CEO at Twitter. But on Sunday, he said he had no successor and that “nobody wants the job that can actually keep Twitter alive.”
