Emergency services are on the scene after what police described as a “sudden death” in Ko Down on Wednesday afternoon.
He told PSNI that the death occurred in the Kennedy Square area of Downpatrick.
According to a local councilor, it is understood that the death may be related to a child.
An Northern Ireland air ambulance was also present at the incident, which was confirmed by the ambulance service as a medical incident at a private address.
A PSNI spokesman said: “Police are currently present in a sudden death in the Kennedy Square area of Downpatrick. No further details at this time. “
A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said: “We received a call to 999 after a medical incident at a private address.
“NIAS was present in the Downpatrick area and sent an air ambulance, three ambulance crews and two ambulance staff to the scene.
