Eric ten Haag declined to comment on Manchester United’s latest defeat as he insisted his focus remained on Ajax this season.
The 52-year-old has taken over his current team for the first time since being confirmed as United’s new manager. Ten Hag led his team to a 1-0 victory over NEC Nijmegen to bring them one step closer to the Eredivisie title.
Ajax’s victory came just hours after United’s trip to Arsenal. United lost 3-1 to the Emirates as they suffered their second loss of the week and their third in their last four games.

The loss puts an end to United’s hopes of finishing in the top four after losing six points to the Gunners with just four games left. This means that Ten Hag will hardly have football in the Champions League, which he is looking forward to when he arrives at Old Trafford at the end of the season.
United’s latest defeat once again highlighted the huge work ahead of Ten Hag before the summer. Speaking after his last victory with Ajax, the Dutchman insisted that he does not lose focus on his current job.
“I’m always focused and focused on the work I have to do,” said Ten Haag. “It doesn’t matter what’s around me. You always take time for the future, but my head and my energy are for Ajax.
Asked about United’s defeat by Arsenal, Ten Haag added: “I have no opinion on this. I have shown respect for the people who are now at Man United, and I am responsible for Ajax. “
Although he does not want to talk about his new team on Saturday, Ten Hague has already lifted the lids on the reasons for leaving Ajax. In an interview with Trouw, he said: “This is already a bonus year.
“Things were already happening last summer, but I wanted to succeed with Ajax once again and spend the winter in the Champions League. Because when I was appointed, I said that Ajax should become “proof of Europe”. That worked. But we are not ready yet. “
