Sometimes the best part of the sport is the pettiness we witness in public.
After colliding with Evander Kane during an ice fight on Tuesday night, Minnesota striker Wilde Ryan Hartmann was not fined $ 4,250 by the NHL for unsportsmanlike conduct after Kane cross-checked Kiril Kaprizov. At one point, Kane battled five opposing players as the referees found themselves in the middle of a fight.
Kane has had a lot of off-ice problems throughout his NHL career. Earlier this season, Oilers’ left wing was suspended from the NHL for 21 games to falsify a COVID vaccination card and break protocols. He is under investigation for gambling in his own league and gambling and has been sued by a Vegas casino for coming out of a half-million-dollar debt. In 2016, five different people accused him of assault, and only last year, as he and his ex-wife were divorced, they both filed restraining orders against each other on the grounds of domestic violence. (There is more detailed information on all his legal issues in this August 2021 article).
Anyway, let’s get back to pettiness. Anna Kane, the aforementioned ex-wife, appeared in the photo yesterday after Hartmann’s quarrel with Kane on the ice, in which he can be seen shouting “Fuck you” at Kane. Anna posted a story on Instagram today with a screenshot of a payment from Venmo to Hartmann, sending him $ 200 to help pay the fine for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Hartmann said the fine was “well worth it” and added: “This shows that we have five boys inside, they did not have a single person to help him. I don’t think any of their boys will defend him. ” Kane has been with Edmonton since the end of January, after his contract was terminated by the San Jose Sharks.
Anna was not the only one to send a little help the Hartmann way – screenshots circulating on Twitter showing Hartmann’s Venmo page full of fan donations, many of whom use middle-finger emojis to describe the payment.
Hartmann won some fans with his move – let’s just say that Kane is not the most beloved player in the NHL.
