1 injured in a fire in Franklin

One person was slightly injured after a fire in an apartment on 475 Franklyn Rd. Wednesday morning.
Kelowna Fire Department received multiple calls until 911 around 6:40 a.m., reporting smoke coming from a second-floor window.
When firefighters arrived, they noticed fire and smoke billowing from the window. The teams attacked the fire from outside, then entered the structure and extinguished a fire in the block’s bedroom.
“The fire was contained in the one-room apartment with a slight extension from the outside. A resident was sent to KGH with minor injuries and Kelowna’s fire department is investigating the cause of the fire,” said platoon captain Corey Lang.
Four engines, a rescue unit, a ladder truck, a command vehicle and 20 firefighters responded to the fire.

A man was reportedly taken to hospital after a fire in an apartment building in Kelowna this morning.
Fire and police crews closed Franklin Road between Houghton and Leathead roads after seeing smoke rising from a Bristol apartment building around 6:30 a.m.
The fire is believed to have started in a bedroom on the second floor.
Stairs to the second floor and charred siding to the upper floor could be seen.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but it has already been extinguished.
