Fisherman admits to killing missing journalist Dom Phillips and his guide in Brazil | world

One of the two suspects in the murder and dismemberment of a British journalist and his guide in the Amazon rainforest has confessed to the crime, police said.

Amarildo da Costa de Oliveira, 41, has admitted to killing Dom Phillips and local expert Bruno Pereira, who have been missing for more than a week.

Police told reporters that he made the confession and then took the police to the place where the bodies of Phillips and Pereira were buried.

Dom Phillips, a veteran journalist and author, was researching a book called How to Save the Amazon

Federal investigators said the suspect, also known as Pelado, told police he used a gun to kill the two men before being buried nearly two miles in the woods.

Witnesses said yesterday they saw police take a hooded man to the river where the couple was.
