Five of the six candidates vying for Tory leadership will take the stage tonight for a debate in front of the Conservative House.
This is not an official leadership debate, but is being conducted by the Canadian Strong and Free Network as part of an annual conference in Ottawa.
The organization promotes conservative ideas and was founded by Preston Manning, a former leader of the Reform Party of Canada – a predecessor of the Canadian Alliance, which merged with the Progressive Conservative Party to form the current Conservative Party.
Parts of this story can be shown during the debate tonight, as the race has already seen accusations that some candidates are really “conservative”.
Pierre Poalievre, Leslin Lewis, Roman Baber, Scott Aichison and Jean Charest will appear on stage.
Patrick Brown is not present as his campaign tells him he is busy selling membership before the June 3 deadline, when supporters must be members to vote in the race.
Next week, all six candidates are due to take part in the first of two official debates organized by the party.
