Gourmet: Apple prepares to debut improved lock screen, iPadOS window, redesigned Mac apps and more at WWDC

Apple plans to debut an improved lock screen with iOS 16, improved multitasking in iPadOS 16, improved navigation in watchOS 9, additional smart home features in tvOS 16, redesigned applications in macOS 13 and more, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

In the latest issue of his Power On newsletter, Gourmet outlined expectations for all of Apple’s upcoming operating systems, including iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, tvOS 16 and macOS 13. He believes the updates will be “fairly significant.”

It is reported that Apple plans to make a number of changes to the lock screen with “iOS 16”, including a new type of wallpaper that displays information:

Apple is planning major improvements to the lock screen, including wallpapers that have features such as widgets.

I was also told that iOS 16 incorporates future support for an always-on lock screen, something Apple originally planned for last year’s iPhone 13.

With regard to the iPadOS 16, Gourmet expects “big changes in the window and multitasking”, while tvOS 16 is supposed to get “more smart home connections”.

Gourmet expects the Messages app to get “more social media-like functionality, especially around audio messaging.” The Health app is not expected to expand to iPadOS or macOS, although it is said that “many new features” are expected to work with the iPhone and Apple Watch.

It is claimed that watchOS 9 will include “significant improvements to watchOS that affect daily operation and navigation”, along with refreshments for existing Apple Watch faces and a new low-power mode.

Gourmet claims that macOS 13 will review system preferences to bring it more in line with the iOS Settings app, including individual settings organized by the app, as well as other redesigns for default apps.

OSiOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, tvOS 16 and macOS 13 are expected to be unveiled at the Apple World Developer Conference (WWDC) on Monday, June 6, followed by a beta test period before the updates are released in the fall. .
