Police have been called to the home of Manchester United and England footballer Harry Maguire over reports of a bomb threat, his spokesman confirmed.
Cheshire police said they had been called in to signal a bomb threat at an address in the Wilmslow area.
There were no evacuations, but as a precautionary measure, a police dog with explosives was present at the address on Thursday afternoon to search the gardens and the surrounding area.
A spokesman for Harry Maguire said: “In the last 24 hours, Harry has received a serious threat to his family home.
“He reported this to the police, who are now investigating the case. The safety of his family and the people around him is clearly Harry’s number one priority.
“He will continue to prepare for the match this weekend as usual and we will not comment on more details for now.
Manchester United have to play with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium at noon on Saturday.
