HIGNFY: Ian Hislop says entire Tory party should resign over Boris Johnson’s support amid party scandal

Ian Hislop was greeted with applause for Have I Got For You, as he said “the whole Tory party” should resign because of the defense of Boris Johnson amid the party scandal.

This week, Prime Minister and Chancellor Rishi received fines for violating the blockade to attend illegal Downing Street parties.

Johnson is the first incumbent prime minister to be found to have broken the law. Johnson’s wife, Carrie, was also fined.

Speaking at HIGNFY on Friday (April 15th), Hislop said voters had previously been told it was too early to call for Johnson’s resignation before Sue Gray’s report was published, and now they have been told that is “too late”.

“He thinks everyone has forgotten about it and they don’t care anymore,” Hislop said, pursed his lips, adding, “Maybe by the time we get out, the party will come to its senses and he will resign.”

“We have six more parties. All attention is focused on this, and everyone says, “Oh my God, I woke up the leftists on the BBC, can’t you get over it?”

And I think, ‘Yes, wake up the left-wing Lord Wolfson of the BBC, the Tory Minister of Justice, who has just resigned. I mean, there’s a snowflake. Tory QC, member of the House of Lords, pathetic.

Justice Minister Lord Wolfson left the government to protest the prime minister’s failure to resign for violating the law, saying that “repeated violations of the rules and violations of criminal law” on Downing Street could not be allowed to be treated with “Constitutional impunity”.

Hislop continued: “He resigned. Why didn’t Boris do it? Why didn’t Rishi do it? Why not Carrie? Are you allowed to give up as his wife?

“And why didn’t the whole Tory party resign, everyone?” They supported him, why don’t they leave now? They are the country of law and order. “

As Johnson and Sunak apologize and pay their fixed fines, it remains to be seen whether they will resign.

A number of celebrities have backed calls for the prime minister to step down, including Dan Stevens.

The Downton Abbey star gasped at the hosts of The One Show as he seemed to be discussing his new show Gaslit, describing “a criminal for a leader who is embroiled in a confused war, embroiled in a stupid scandal and surrounded by ambitious idiots and really needs to resign.”

“No, I’m sorry this is an introduction to Boris Johnson,” he added.
