Hollywood movie star Angelina Jolie flees to Lviv for cover after air raid warnings

Movie star Angelina Jolie has been rushed to safety due to fears of an impending rocket attack during a visit to the western Ukrainian city of Lviv.

Jolie, 46, caught her eye when a video surfaced of her walking around with her when an air raid siren sounded.

As the group was filmed walking away to safety, a woman turned to the camera and said, “Please, no more.”

The actress herself took the time to wave in front of the camera and insisted that I was fine when asked.

Jolie has worked as a special envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for many years, but the details of her trip to Ukraine are unclear.

Lviv has been attacked by the Russian army in recent weeks, and a rocket attack on the city earlier this month killed at least seven people.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Maya Podgorodetskaya posted on Facebook another video of the famous actress and director.

‘Nothing special. Only Lviv. I just went to have coffee. Just Angelina Jolie, “she wrote in Ukrainian after filming the actress, who removed her from the counter.

“Ukraine is simply supported by the whole world.”

In the video of Pidhorodetska, Jolie was seen talking happily with locals in Lviv while wearing everyday clothes.

The large group was walking briskly to seek shelter as the air raid siren rang in Lviv, Ukraine.

Fans had earlier congratulated Jolie as Russian forces gathered in the east for a renewed attack.

The video, which shows Jolie signing a piece of paper and waving at the camera, was posted on Facebook by Ukrainian Maya Pidgorodetskaya and has since received more than 19,000 shares.

Ms. Pidhorodetska wrote a post with the video in Ukrainian, which, translated by Google, says: “Nothing special. Only Lviv. I just went to have coffee. Just Angelina Jolie.

“Ukraine is simply supported by the whole world.”

In February, Jolie spoke about the war in Ukraine in a post to her 12.7 million followers on Instagram.

She wrote: “Like many of you, I pray for the people of Ukraine.

“My focus, together with my colleagues from @refugees, is to do everything possible to ensure the protection and basic human rights of displaced persons and refugees in the region.

“We have already seen reports of victims and people starting to flee their homes in search of safety.

“It is too early to know what will happen, but the significance of this moment – for the people of Ukraine and for the international rule of law – cannot be exaggerated.”

Jolie is not the first American celebrity to land in Ukraine during the conflict.

American actor Sean Penn met with the country’s president and attended government press briefings as part of a VICE documentary he is shooting.

When Kyiv was attacked, Penn and his team traveled miles to the Polish border.

The 61-year-old actor said he and his team had decided to abandon their car and chase them on foot after seeing thousands of Ukrainians flee for safety, with queues stretching for miles.

Penn described how the cars were full of women and children, with their only possession of value being the vehicle they were traveling in.

The documentary is a production of VICE Studios, “in collaboration with VICE World News and Endeavor Content,” according to a spokesman for the media group.

In a translated Facebook post, the Ukrainian government said it was grateful that Sean was there and that he was praised as braver than Western leaders.

Although most of the fighting has shifted to the east of the country, Ukrainian cities in the West, such as Lviv, are still being bombarded by Russian missile attacks.

On Saturday, Ukrainian authorities said the bodies of more than 1,000 civilians had been retrieved from areas around Kyiv and they were working with French investigators to document alleged war crimes.

Forensic tests performed on civilian corpses dumped in mass graves show that women were raped before being brutally killed, it became clear on Monday.

Dozens of autopsies of mutilated corpses from Bucha, Irpin and Borodyanka have been carried out, many of them showing traces of torture and numerous bullet holes in the back.

An investigator north of Kyiv said it was difficult to find traces of rape and sexual violence because the bodies were “in such poor condition”.

A UN mission in Bucha has documented “the illegal killing, including by execution, of about 50 civilians there,” the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights said.

In the same city, 25 women aged 14 to 25 were kept in a basement and systematically raped, with nine women becoming pregnant in a case now registered by Human Rights Commissioner Lyudmila Denisova.
