Homes Under The Hammer star Martin Roberts says he has “hours of life”

Martin went to the hospital with chest pain, only to find it much more serious

Martin Roberts said he underwent emergency surgery to remove fluid that “stops my heart from working.”

The presenter, who spent nearly a decade at the helm of Homes Under The Hammer, went to the hospital with “several chest pains” and “generally feeling sick” before finding it much more serious.

Recording a video from his hospital bedroom on Thursday, the 58-year-old Roberts said: “I have to say that this is not where I expected to watch Homes Under The Hammer today.

“It turned out that I had a huge amount of fluid around my heart, which actually stopped my heart from working, and if they didn’t get rid of it, which they did during an emergency operation last night, then everything is quite serious, like hours of life.”

The TV star who appeared in I’m A Celebrity… Get me out of here! in 2016, said he ended up at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.

“As a result, many complications have occurred, but we will overcome them,” he added.

Roberts signed the video on Twitter: “A little shocking. Fortunately, I’m here to tell the story. “

Fellow Homes Under the Hammer host Lucy Alexander sent her support to Martin.

She tweeted: “I’m sending you the biggest hug ever, I love you [sic] colleague.”
