IHIT Sgt. Timothy Pierotti confirmed to Postmedia that the special unit is on the scene of a suspicious death — a body found in a burned vehicle in Maple Ridge.

Ridge Meadows RCMP issued a news release late Friday afternoon confirming a “suspicious death occurred overnight.”
“At approximately 11:15 p.m., Ridge Meadows first line officers responded to a report of a fully engulfed vehicle in the 14300 block of 256th Street,” Cpl. said Julie Klausner. “The Maple Ridge Fire Department was on scene to extinguish the fire. During the subsequent search of the car, a corpse was found.
She said the investigation is still in its early stages.
“It is not known at this time if this is related to the gang conflict in the Lower Mainland,” she said.
