Honoring a husband after a 30-year-old woman was found dead in a tannery in Swansea

A young wife who died in a solarium has been described as “the most generous person you have ever met” by her depressed husband. Piata Tauwhare headed to Lextan near his home in Swansea on Saturday, May 28, for an 11-minute tan, but died shortly after his session.

The 30-year-old woman is believed to have received a cardiac arrest minutes after she got up from the solarium, and her mother-in-law went looking for her after not hearing from her for an hour.

Piata’s husband Ifan Jones said his mother went to the Fforestfach salon, thinking she might have left her phone there without realizing it, but when she was shown in the room the mental health worker used, she found her daughter-in-law is dead on the floor.

The 23-year-old told Liverpool Echo that his Liverpool supportive wife is “the most generous person you can meet”. He said: “No one could say a bad word about her and she would bow down to anyone, friends, family or strangers. It is hard.

“She helped me with everything. I suffer from anxiety and things like that and literally anything, she would do anything for me. Each of my friends and family immediately agreed with her. Everyone loved her. If they ever see me without her, everyone would ask how she is. “

Ifan, who lived with Piata at their home in Swansea, said he believed the love of his life could have been saved if it had been found earlier. He also claims that the solarium staff should have checked her out.

The warehouse operator said: “She had something like a cardiac arrest in the solarium, Lextan. She entered there at 1:50 p.m. for an 11-minute session. She didn’t answer her phone, so my mother and I went to work to see if everything was okay.

“We found her lying dead in a room. Staff members had not checked on her. She must have had a funny twist and died. From what I was told, the longest you can be there is 20 minutes, but it was only booked for 11 minutes.

“They usually come and check five minutes after the session so they can clean the bed for the next client. They didn’t even check if he was inside or not. My mother found her.

“I asked her to look, so the staff took her to an empty room and there was no telephone. Then, when my mother was leaving, they realized that she was in another room and the door was locked. My mother looked under the door and saw her legs. Then they went to find the key, and when we finally entered, she was dead. “

Ifan has already launched GoFundMe to raise money for Piata’s body to be transported to New Zealand for a traditional funeral in her home country. He said: “We want to take her back to New Zealand to be with friends and family and to have a traditional funeral.

“I also want to go there and be with her to see her finally die. There will be a ceremony here with friends and family to show their respect, but then we will take it to New Zealand to do it right. “

A Lextan spokesman told Liverpool Echo: “It is with sadness that we can confirm that a customer died while in our Fforestfach showroom on Saturday, 28 May. We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, and we have also offered advice to all staff involved. We are cooperating with the South Wales Police investigation into this case and any further investigations should be made to them at this time. “
