Instagram product labels are now available to all users in the United States

Following its announcement late last month that all users will soon be able to use product labels in their feed posts, Instagram announced today that all US users can now insert product labels in their updates.

This can cause many more tags to pop up in your IG feed – as explained by Instagram:

“Today, we are expanding the ability to add product labels to publications in all of the United States. Creators and brands share how they use and style their favorite products on Instagram and inspire their communities. We now give everyone access to inspire their loved ones by activating product tagging in posts. From supporting brands you love to helping friends and family discover new products they might like, sharing products on Instagram has become easier. ”

As noted, Instagram announced last month that it will introduce product labels for all users as part of its expanded push to increase e-commerce activity in the app.

Initially available only to approved creators, allowing everyone to provide a direct link to products and brands in their uploads, this will encourage more users to share organic product links, while encouraging more people to click and ideally buy items. in the application.

Instagram is working to merge more shopping behaviors into its UX by adding stores, a store tab, live shopping and more. Since the majority of IG users are already connecting to brands and receiving the latest product updates in the app, it makes sense to rely on this behavior, and shopping labels are another element designed to encourage more in-app costs. .

In addition to the post, Instagram also provided this overview of how to tag products in your posts.

This could provide a big boost for brands – and with 1.6 million users tagging at least one brand on average each week, there is clearly an impetus to make this a bigger element of the in-app experience.

In addition, of course, makes IG a little more commercial, which may exclude some users. But this is a risk that the platform will be willing to take.
