Amazon Black Friday 2022: What to Expect
If Amazon’s second Prime Day is any indication, expect a little something for everyone on your Black Friday list. Some of the best deals from the Prime Early Access Sale included 10% off the just-released second-generation Apple AirPods Pro, 13% off the 2022 iPad Air, and record low prices on other Apple products. We’ve also seen some great deals on Amazon gift devices like the Kindle Paperwhite and Amazon Echo Show 8.
Other popular items from the second Prime Day were Casper pillows, Laniege cult beauty products, the original Peloton bike and LG’s 65-inch C1 OLED TV.
Of course, Amazon’s Black Friday sale is a great opportunity to pick up Amazon devices, and you’ll find great deals on smart TVs of all sizes and price points. On the home and kitchen side, expect deals on vacuum cleaners from popular manufacturers like Dyson, Shark and Bissell, as well as kitchen appliances from Ninja, Instant Pot and KitchenAid.
Amazon reported record Black Friday and Cyber Monday last year. The retailer says toys, home goods and apparel are its best-selling categories, with top gifts including the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer, Beats Solo3 Headphones and Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote.
When is Amazon Black Friday?
This year, Black Friday 2022 falls on Friday, November 25, the day after Thanksgiving. Cyber Monday 2022 falls on November 28. While Amazon will certainly be participating on Black Friday, it’s clear that there are plenty of Black Friday deals available right now.
Is Prime Day better than Black Friday?
Prime Day offers the lowest prices of the year on Amazon’s own products. Prices on Amazon devices like Kindles, Fire TVs, and Echo devices are usually the lowest on Prime Day. It’s worth noting that Amazon also owns Ring and Blink, which offer home security systems.
However, Prime Day is only for people who have a Prime membership. Black Friday, on the other hand, is open to everyone.
Generally speaking, the discounts are more or less the same between Black Friday and Prime Day. We typically see Prime Day-like pricing on Amazon devices on Black Friday. The bigger difference is that Amazon’s Black Friday sale offers price cuts on a wider range of products and categories. Amazon’s Black Friday deals include competitive prices on major categories, from smart TVs to mattresses.
To find out the real value of each deal, we recommend using the free tool CamelCamelCamel, which allows you to track the price history of everything on Amazon. We’re also big fans of Keepa, which has a browser extension that actually offers a price history chart directly on any Amazon product page.
Do you have to be a Prime member to shop Black Friday on Amazon?
Unlike Prime Day, which requires a Prime subscription, Amazon’s Black Friday sale is open to everyone.
However, Prime memberships come with valuable benefits. If you’re like most Americans and plan to do most of your holiday shopping during Black Friday, we highly recommend becoming a Prime member.
What are Amazon’s most popular devices to gift this year?
Knowing that Amazon tends to give the biggest discounts on its own devices, here’s a quick look at this year’s most popular devices.
- Kindle: This year, Amazon revamped its entry-level Kindle model and introduced the brand new Kindle Scribe, an e-reader that you can write on. These models are unlikely to see sales since they’re such fresh releases, but you can expect to see older ones like the Kindle Oasis and Paperwhite down to all-time lows. We also expect to see some useful bundle deals, including Amazon e-readers and accessories like cases and Kindle Unlimited.
- Echo Speakers: We’re seeing big discounts on Amazon’s brand new 5th generation Echo Dot. We also often see deals on Echo speakers at every price point bundled with other smart gear like smart bulbs, Ring doorbells, and more.
- Fire TV devices: Amazon also announced a new Fire TV Omni QLED this fall, and it’s currently discounted. But if you’re looking for even better deals, keep an eye out for Amazon’s older TV models and Fire TV streaming devices — they’re likely to drop to their best prices of the year.
- Ring and Blink security cameras: Amazon’s new lineup of devices for 2022 includes the new Ring Spotlight Cam Pro, Blink Mini Cam Tilt, and the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera to monitor your home, inside and out. They may drop in price this Black Friday, but if you’re looking for a safe bet, keep an eye out for Ring doorbells and older Blink camera models. They often fall to record lows both individually and together.
