Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant is ready to miss Game 4 of the second round of his team against the Golden State Warriors with pain in his right knee. Morant injured his knee in the second half of Saturday’s loss to the Warriors in Game 3.
Jenkins confirmed that the injury occurred when Warriors guard Jordan Poole pulled Morant’s knee as he seemingly waved the ball. The moment came with the remaining 6:19 until the fourth quarter and then Morant was removed from the game.
Morant then tweeted that Poole had “broken the code,” but quickly deleted the tweet. This was in connection with what Warriors coach Steve Kerr said about Grizzlies winger Dylan Brooks, who was penalized for Match 3 after committing a foul on Warriors guard Gary Peyton II in Match 2, who suffered an elbow fracture in the game. While Brooks has been suspended for his involvement in Peyton II’s injury, Poole will not face any penalty from the league for his actions.
Warriors guard Clay Thompson was unhappy with Morant’s accusation. “Personally. I suffered a severe knee injury. And I don’t think there’s any malicious intent on Jordan,” Thompson said. “I don’t even think he’s strong enough to hurt someone’s knee, but we’re not trying to hurt people or try to hit people in the back of the head during a quick break. We play the game the right way. “

Morant excelled in this series with an average of 38.3 points, 8.3 assists and 6.7 rebounds per game, but the Grizzlies managed to survive without Morant for most of the season. Memphis went 20-5 without Morant during the regular season, helping them win No. 2 in the Western Conference in the process. However, things were more difficult in this series. The Grizzlies played 29 minutes without Morant against Golden State and lost those minutes by 32 points. Thais Jones will probably start in Morant’s place if he really can’t play. Brooks must also return to the starting lineup with a sentence served.
Golden State leads the series 2-1 and by winning Game 1 in Memphis, they stole the Grizzlies’ home advantage. Memphis had to win at least one of the last two games in San Francisco to win this series, and since Morant is expected to miss Game 4, it will be much harder.
