Jace wins his 4th straight victory

Blue Jace 3 Astros 2

I don’t want to sound ungrateful, but it would be a good thing from time to time. On the other hand, these are four consecutive victories for our Jace.

Today we have another great start from Alec Manoah. He gave up a two-run home run in Alex Bregman’s first. But that would be the only run he would allow in 6 innings. Alec gave up 7 goals (with Bregman Homer the only allowed shot from extra base), no walks, no shots, with 5 outs. Very good performance. He is now 3-0 for the season.

We didn’t do much in the attack.

George Springer made a home run to start the game. It’s nice to see, as I had some concerns that his injury was worse than the team was leading.

Then in the sixth Bo led with a single, and Vlad moved him to third place with another single. Then Lourdes jumped just beyond second base, which was pursued by second base of Astros, Nico Goodrum and short stop Jeremy Pena, and Goodrum caught, despite their collision. Bishet read the play very well and noted the shortest fly I’ve ever seen in my life, I’m sure. But he had no game with Goodrum, who ran off the plate and then fell in the collision.

Then Santiago Espinal made his second home run in two days. Not crushed, but respectable 364 feet, hit at 98.1 MPH. The left field wall is not that far in Houston.

We only had 8 hits during the day. Vlad was the only Jay with 2 hits. Reimel Tapia and Cavan Biggio had 0 odds.

And if we want to win games with one run, fur has to do a good job:

  • David Phelps received the first two outs of the seventh by giving up walking, but got 2 outs.
  • Ryan Boruki got the last of the seventh.
  • Yimi Garcia made a quick eighth with 2 outs. This is hold number 5 for Yimi.
  • And Adam Simber, giving Jordan Romano a day off, gave up the front single, but then got out. The next ram Aledmys Diaz made a solid line, but Vlad made a great catch in the beginning and stepped on the bag to get a double play and end the game. He was hit at 100.4 MPH. It may have been a bit of luck, but Simber received his first save of the season and his second (third in his career) as Blue Jay.

Jace of the day: Simber (.174 WPA), Garcia (.128), Espinal (.164) and Vlad (.102).

Suckage: Tapia (-.180 for his 0 for 4). It’s not fair, really, he had some good long bats and hit the ball hard a few times, just failed to fall.

Jace is already 10-5, taking first place in AL East.
