January 6 Hearings: Trump’s Team Continues to Attempt to Cancel Elections as Rebels Approach 40 Feet from Pence

Hearings on January 6: Ivanka Trump remembers father calling Pence “weak” in last call

The House of Representatives’ third public hearing on Jan. 6 included bombings of a campaign to pressure Donald Trump and law professor John Eastman to force then-Vice President Mike Pence to cancel the 2020 election.

The commission tried to demonstrate that Trump knew he had lost the election, but “observed a scheme” to undo the result, “when the vice president refused to agree, he unleashed a violent mob against Pence in the Capitol.”

Evidence has been presented that Pence has told Trump “many times” that Eastman’s plan is illegal and unconstitutional. Retired judge Michael Lutig testified that he would “put my body across the road” to stop the election from being called off.

Members of Trump’s family and staff witnessed a “heated” conversation with Pence this morning, after which the president rewrote his speech at the rally with sharp remarks about his vice president. He later tweeted, prompting angry rebels to rush forward, with some approaching 40 feet from Pence while he was evacuated.

A day after the failed attempt to cancel the election, Eastman sent an email asking for clemency, which he did not receive. Mr Lutig warned of the threat to democracy from Trump and remained.
