Jeremy Kyle reveals that he will return to the screens with a new evening show on TalkTV

HE was one of the most recognizable faces on television for two decades – but then a tragic turnaround brought Jeremy Kyle temporarily off our screens.

Now the former king of daytime television is back – and today he is revealing his own nightly show on the newly formed TalkTV network.

After a hugely successful cameo on the channel this week, the 56-year-old woman admits: “My costumes don’t look the same, but I don’t care – I couldn’t be more excited to be back on camera.”

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, he added: “I didn’t realize how much I missed it until I walked into the studio and felt the lights.

“Live TV is almost like a drug, it attracts you and I just like the format.”

Following the success of his return to broadcast – to his stable partner TalkRadio last year – his new show, which will air on weekday evenings, will cover current news and current events.

The father of five, who has been married three times, adds: “I was thinking about a great training routine on TV, going back to the gym, a personal trainer, intense diets, but then I saw Tyson Fury become a world heavyweight champion with Dad body, so I think I can handle it.

“I like a little walk, but not in the direction of the gym, if I can avoid it. I really don’t care if I’m a good athlete, as long as we do a great TV show. “

“Straight talk”

On the other hand, he jokes, he has also escaped bathing duties for his youngest son, whom he met with his new wife Vicky two years ago.

He joked: “I admit it looks like an escape, but I promise it wasn’t the plan – even though bathing time is a nightmare.

“I promised to do it all morning to make up for it.”

Known as the Friends of Jez, the presenter began his career broadcasting on local radio in 1996.

It was there that he created popular formats, including Jezza’s Confessions, which will form the basis of his daily television series The Jeremy Kyle Show, which aired from 2005 to 2019.

His return will use a different format, including interviews, audience participation and breaking news, along with guests and regular participants.

“The right show at the right time”

He explains: “I’ve loved going back to my radio roots over the last seven months.

“It was a lot of hard work, but also a lot of fun, interviewing everyone from Jacob Rees-Mogg to Eddie” The Eagle “Edwards, but also talking to the audience every day about the things that mean the most to them.

“The radio show performed very well, but I would be lying if I said that I do not want to host my own TV show.

“It was the plan and it was something I missed, but it had to be the right show at the right time with the right team.

“And now I feel like I’ve found it. I feel like I’ve found my home to broadcast.”

He joins Pierce Morgan, who launched his global show Uncensored this week with guests, including President Donald Trump and boxer Tyson Fury, after successfully defending his world heavyweight crown.

Jeremy added: “Pierce announced that he was coming to TalkTV about a week after I walked in the door of talkRADIO.

And since we all counted down to the start of this week, the whole place was lively.

The start went well, it was really smooth.

I mean, how can you not be impressed by a brand new channel with huge interviews with Donald Trump, Boris Johnson and the man of the moment, Tyson Fury, during his first week on the air.

“But this is just the beginning and now the announcement is made, I can’t wait to leave my own mark on TalkTV with my own brand new show, which, I guarantee, will make everyone talk.”

Jeremy’s detachment from our screens followed the tragic revelation that guest Steve Diamond took his own life seven days after appearing on his ITV show.

Three years later, an investigation has not yet been completed to determine whether the death was linked.

Immediately after the news of Steve’s death, Jeremy sent his condolences to his family and said: “I and the production team are completely devastated. Our thoughts and sympathy are with Steve’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time. “

But while acknowledging that the decision to drop out of shape came as a blow, Jeremy regularly blames his wife, Vicki, whom he married in October last year, for helping him cope with the ordeal.

He told The Sun: “I just couldn’t bring myself to leave the house or even open the curtains.

“I used to think ‘get married’ when some celebrities talked about such problems. But I suddenly realized first hand that you can’t always do that. I never thought they would influence me like that.

It was a shock, but I always said, “If you have a problem, admit it and then seek appropriate help.” So that’s what I did. “

Despite his long service on the net, he said many star names and executives quickly distanced themselves after the end of his show.

Our show is entirely for the viewers – who will not only get involved, but will also participate in the show.

He recalls: “It didn’t take long for some people I’ve known for many, many years to just disappear.

“Some people were brilliant.” Pierce Morgan immediately reached out.

“Kate Garaway, who is just extraordinary and has been through the worst of recent times, still needs time to connect.

“Eamon Holmes and Ruth Langsford were amazing, as were Rob Rinder and Declan Donnelly.

“But there were a lot of people who just never reconnected, even though we’ve worked together for so many years – it’s very, very revealing.”

He added: “But the fact that I went back to work, again on the radio and now again on television, really set me on fire and I can’t wait to get started.

“You can expect candid conversations, great opinions and stellar reservations, of course.

“If they raise waves in the press, in politics, in show business or sports, they will be involved.

But we will not only deal with the greats of Westminster or the celebrities on the red carpet.

“Our show is fully connected with the audience – who will not only get involved, but will also participate in the show.

“One element I’m really excited about is our People’s Panel, where we hear from viewers and get their honest, unfiltered opinion of the day’s news.

“They will be able to burden their politician and even their leader with everything they like.

“Sparks may fly, but we will not deviate from what people are really talking about and how they are talking about it.

The people who are the backbone of this country will be the most important people in my new TV show.

“We will reflect the real concerns of real people in the country and below and we will get all the right answers we deserve from the people in power.

“I don’t want the show to be strict. I want to have fun and everyone who watches, to have their say, to participate if they want and to always feel part of this fun. ”

Further details on Jeremy’s new show are expected to be announced in the coming weeks before airing this summer – with many stellar guests in the pipeline.

As Jeremy says, “I’m back, but that’s just the beginning.”
