Jurgen Klopp described the seventh minute of Liverpool’s victory over Man United, when Anfield paid tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo, as his “moment of the game”.
Ronaldo is absent for United’s trip to Merseyside after the sad death of his newborn son, and the grieving striker has been given compassionate leave.
Before the start, it was announced that both sides would wear black armbands in honor, while supporters agreed to pay a minute of applause in the seventh minute of the match.
Marking Ronaldo’s shirt number, the tribute was flawlessly honored with a performance of You’ll Never Walk Alone, and in his post-match press conference, Klopp said it was his “moment in the game”.
“My moment in the match, although it was a very important and great result, was the seventh minute, when our people showed a clean class,” he told reporters.
“The whole stadium together showed pure class.

“Obviously everyone knew from yesterday, I heard about it for the first time. There are so many things that are much more important in life than football, and obviously we really have feelings for Cristiano and his family.
“So that was my moment in the game.”
Speaking to Sky Sports, he added: “That’s exactly what football should be like. Excluding all rivalries at the moment, there is only one important thing.
“It really was a class show.
“Of course, all our thoughts from the moment we heard about it were with Cristiano and his family. I can’t even imagine how he should feel. We really sympathize with him. “
