Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has signed a new two-year extension of his contract at Anfield.
The German has two years left from his current contract and previously thought that he could retire after the end of his contract, but now he is ready to stay at least until the summer of 2026.
The Reds also confirmed that assistant managers Pep Linders and Peter Kraviec have also signed new contracts with the Merseyside club, as an additional impetus to Klopp’s new contract. There were fears that Lenders could take over on his own, but those fears were dispelled.
Mike Gordon, president of Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which owns Liverpool, flew to the Champions League semi-final against Villarreal on Wednesday, with one of his top priorities being to extend his contract with Klopp.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said his team has treated every game as a final since the beginning of the year. He also revealed that he did not realize that Liverpool have already qualified for the Champions League next season
The 54-year-old’s agent, Mark Kosike, was also at Anfield for Wednesday’s first game, sitting a few seats from Gordon and negotiating after positive noise from Klopp’s camp.
Klopp, who has led since 2015, remains on track to win a historic four this season after a 2-0 win over Anfield’s Villarreal that puts them in tight control of reaching a third Champions League final in four years.
His team also face Chelsea in the FA Cup final next month and are one point behind Premier League leader Manchester City with five games left after lifting the League Cup in February.

Although he won the first 2-0 semi-final match against Villarreal, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says his team still has work to do if it wants to reach the Champions League final.
The German manager has won five trophies in his seven years at the club, including the 2019/20 Premier League title and the 2019 Champions League.
Recruitment over the next two summer windows is likely to focus on refreshing the squad, after key players have previously secured a long-term renewal.

Jurgen Klopp announces in his own video that he will extend his contract with Liverpool for another 2 years.
“There is something to announce. Like last time, some will like it, others will not like it too much. If you don’t like it, stop watching now.
“I have two more years to go. And not just me! No, all my coaches too, which is actually the most important thing.
“Why? now is the question… because Ula wants to stay! As a good husband, what do you do when your wife wants to stay? You stay. This is not the only reason, but it is one of the reasons.
“You know, I love our club, it’s the best place to live. I feel really, really lucky. What is it now? Six and a half years ago, the FSG decided it would be a good idea to bring in a German, and here we are. There will be two more, from now on there are four.
“Wow! It’s a great time in football. I hope we all enjoy the time together. See you soon …”
“FSG moves very fast as soon as they hear positive sounds from Klopp’s camp”

Vinnie O’Connor reflects the latest reaction to the critical news that Jurgen Klopp has taken over his long-term future at Liverpool by signing a two-year contract extension.
“There has never been any doubt, because when Jurgen Klopp hinted that he wanted to stay in Liverpool, the FSG acted – they did it in 2016 and 2019 – and they did it today.
“We were in training earlier today and it seemed like something was happening as an official photo shoot. The club photographer was there, Klopp was there with his behind-the-scenes staff, and then he had a separate photo with his two assistants. And this gives shows that things have developed quite quickly.
“Just to give context to how quickly this has developed, FSG President Mike Gordon flew in yesterday (Wednesday) for the match and one of his main priorities was to negotiate with Klopp. He was sitting in several places by Jürgen’s agent, too, and that was all because of the positive noises coming from Klopp’s camp.
FSG has moved very fast, given this positive move by Klopp, as they did in 2016 and 2019, and now Klopp remains after 2024, he remains until 2026. And of course, there is still the small question for the four to go for this season. “

Jamie Carragher delves deep into statistics and analyzes how Liverpool and Man City can deviate in the title race
Jamie Carragher analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of Liverpool and Manchester City in football on Monday night and looked at areas that could lead to losing points as the race for the Premier League title goes to the final.
Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp are still one point apart at the top of the Premier League table after beating Watford and Everton respectively over the weekend.
They have five games left to play, with Liverpool facing what appears to be a more complex match on paper, but Carragher believes both sides will slip between now and the end of the campaign.
“We’re talking about two brilliant teams,” the Sky Sports expert told Monday Night Football. “You can’t really divide them into an area of the game, but I can see they both drop points.”
