Vice President Kamala Harris gave a rare one-on-one interview with Dana Bash of CNN on Monday after the Supreme Court overturned Rowe v. Wade.

The first clips of the interview were aired on “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” where Harris largely condemned Friday’s Supreme Court ruling.

“The court actually took a constitutional right that had been recognized for half a century and took it from women in America. This is shocking. When you think about it, about what that means, about democratic principles, about the ideals we are based on, about freedom, about freedom, “Harris said.

She added that she thought about this decision “as a parent”, as well as a woman.

“You know, I thought about it as a parent. We have two children who are 20 years old, a son and a daughter. I thought about it as a godfather to teenagers. “I thought about it as an aunt for preschoolers,” Harris said.

“And the woman herself,” Bash added.

“And the woman herself, and the daughter of a woman, and the granddaughter of a woman,” Harris said.

This comment was rudely ridiculed on social media in contrast to previous progressive confusion about what a woman is.

“I’m pretty sure she’s not a biologist,” Center for Media Research Nick Fondacaro wrote on Twitter, citing a previous comment from Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown-Jackson.

The director of the independent women’s network, Julie Gunlock, joked: “Oh, so NOW everyone knows what a woman is. Understood”.

Townhall.com managing editor Spencer Brown also noted: “Kamala Harris qualified her opinion on the Dobbs result, explaining that she is a woman, her mother is a woman and her grandmother is a woman.

Later in the interview, Harris claimed that “everyone”, including men, had “something at risk” with the decision.

“When we think about it, everyone takes a risk. First, if you are a parent of sons, think about what that means for your son’s life and what it will mean in terms of the choices he will have, “Harris said.

Twitter users also attacked the comment as “rude” and careless.

“Are you saying they may have to take responsibility as fathers instead of paying for an abortion or forcing the mother of her child to do so?” National Review writer Alexandra De Sanctis Mar asked.

Hillsdale radio host Scott Bertram wrote on Twitter: “This is beyond rude. With a conscious nod and smile, the vice president asks you to think about what it means for your son’s life if he is unable to persuade his child’s mother to kill him in the womb. Yes, let’s think about it, right? “

College Fix editorial assistant Christopher White wrote, “Alas. It’s not a good way to outline the problem.”
