Officers are monitoring a number of lines of investigation, as searches are being carried out in rural areas with the help of firefighters and members of the mountain rescue team.

Speaking to the Burnley Police Department, Detective Superintendent Gary Brooks said: “Katie is still unknown and we are increasingly concerned about her whereabouts.

“We have significant police resources involved in finding Katie. Police are conducting a high-risk investigation into the disappearances with the absolute priority of finding Katie. “

He said a police investigation had arrested a man “known to Katie”.

“We believe he was traveling in a vehicle – a silver transit van – with Katie to the Bolton area near Bowland on Gisborne Forest. Katie’s whereabouts or observations have been unknown since then, “said Death Subt Brooks.

“The main goal is to find Katie. That is why we use police investigations to try to identify the parameters of the search.
