Maybe it’s appropriate that it all came down to crazy about Jeopardy! sensation and Canadian superstar Matea Roach.

One dollar. Excluding the Canadian-American exchange rate, that was the difference between continuing and going home on Friday night. After all, the 23-year-old Toronto teacher was short of a dollar in her quest to win 24 wins on the popular game show.
Roach, a native of Nova Scotia, topped the $ 19,200 Final Jeopardy! and I bet $ 3,601. She did not answer correctly. Challenger Danielle Maurer, digital marketing manager at Peachtree Corners, Georgia, took $ 11,400 in the round and bet $ 4,200. Her answer was correct and on Monday she will be the new defending champion.
The last danger! the category was “the United States,” and the clue was, “These mayors gave their names to a facility built on the site of an old racetrack owned by Coca-Cola tycoon Asa Kandler.” The correct answer: Who are William Hartsfield and Maynard Jackson?
“It’s still like a dream,” Roach said in a press release. “I really came here hoping to win a game and so I still can’t believe it. You know, it’s weird, I obviously didn’t make it to the last one, but I still feel so happy and lucky that I had this experience. “

Roach will probably be fine after inventing the moon shorts. She’s leaving with some serious coin after winning $ 560,983 for 24 broadcasts of the 74-air Los Angeles-based show Jeopardy! winner Ken Jennings and actress Maim Bialik.
We apologize, but this video failed to load.
Roach, a graduate of the University of Toronto, captivated the imagination of many throughout her five-week participation in the show, which ended with her fifth place on the all-time list of consecutive games won. Only legends Jennings, Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio and James Holzhauer have won more games or money during their time on the show.

“When I think about the caliber of these four players, I really don’t think I deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as them, to be honest,” Roach said. “And there is a noticeable financial difference between mine and their money, but it is an incredible achievement. For example, I can’t believe it. It’s a great honor to be talked about in connection with people like Ken, James, Matt, Amy. Speechless.”
Roach is not ready yet. She will be back for Jeopardy! Champions Tournament this fall.
