Kitchener business robbed at gunpoint, two suspects at large: WRPS

The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is searching for two suspects after a Kitchener business was allegedly robbed at gunpoint.

In a news release issued Saturday, officers were first called to the area of Ottawa Street and Alpine Road around 5:40 p.m. Friday.

WRPS says two men entered the business, pulled out a firearm, stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.

The first suspect is described as about six feet tall with a slight build, while the second is described as about 5’5″ with a medium build. Both suspects were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered.

No injuries were reported.

A few hours earlier, police reported that a pharmacy had been robbed by three men with a gun.

It really shows that we have an increase in violent crime. We’ve seen this over the last year,” said Const. Melissa Quarry of the Waterloo Regional Police. “Our robbery team continues to investigate both the incident on Ottawa Street and the incident at the Kitchener pharmacy earlier in the day.

“Part of the investigation will be to look into whether there are any connections between these incidents or other incidents that we have seen in our community.”

Police say all residents who are in a robbery situation should comply and not risk their personal safety.
