Late afternoon fire at a house in London, Ont. in Friday

The London Fire Department responded to a house fire late Friday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 4:15 pm at the Brier Court home in the northern part of the city, where streams of white smoke could be seen rising into the air.

A firefighter was supposed to be on the scene, but the reason why he needed treatment was not disclosed. He was spotted moving a little later.

No other injuries were reported.

Firefighters say the fire started on the back deck, where the flames have moved up the side of the house and into the attic.

An assessment of the damage has not yet been published.
