EXCLUSIVE: Representative Lauren Böbert, R-Colo., Is the author of legislation to close a new board of the Department of Homeland Security designed to control misinformation.

Boebert’s legislation will de-finance the Disinformation Management Council and ensure that the federal government has no role in determining the truth about the American people.

“This kind of thing is horrible. We in Congress have the power of the purse. It is our duty to close this department immediately,” Bowbert said in an interview with Fox News Digital Friday. “I call for leadership in the Republican Party – Leader [Kevin] McCarthy, Whip [Steve] Scalise and others – to join me in calling for this department to be closed and funded. “

McCarthy’s representatives did not immediately respond to whether he supported the bill or the impeachment efforts of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, which Boubert also wants. Scalise supports Boebert’s bill.

Both Scalis and McCarthy recently signed a letter questioning Mallorca’s suitability for the job, but did not specifically impeach.

The issue is a recently announced disinformation management board, which DHS says will counter Russian misinformation and disinformation spread by human smugglers to force migrants to cross the US-Mexico border, according to the Associated Press. Nina Jankovic, who previously worked as a disinformation assistant at the Wilson Center, will head the board as executive director.

Republicans – already suspicious of censorship after Big Tech’s efforts to shut down the New York Post story on Hunter Biden’s laptop after Democrats described it as Russian disinformation – were horrified by the new department.

“No tax dollars should go where Biden can use the power of the federal government to silence true stories, as Big Tech did with Hunter Biden’s story,” Bowbert said.

Bowbert compares the effort to government observation from George Orwell’s 1984 novel.

“The Democrats took it [book] not as a warning, but as a guide, “she said.

“We know there have been a number [disinformation] I mean a number of topics, including COVID, for example, as well as elections and eligibility, “Psaki said.

Describing Jankovic, Psaki said he was an “online disinformation expert” and insisted he was a “broad-minded man”.

Jankovic retweeted her comment Wednesday, saying she was simply tweeting live the presidential debate between Biden and Trump.

Boebert is gathering sponsors for its legislation and plans to formally introduce it next week.

“It’s really a propaganda department,” Bowbert told the disinformation board. “To say that the federal department has a say in what is right and what is wrong. What is true and what is not. This is a very dangerous place that we have come to.”
