LIVE: ‘Big Bang’ Heard After Car Explosion Reports – Latest Updates

A car exploded in Rochdale, according to eyewitnesses. At around 10 a.m. this morning (April 30), police, fire crews and an air ambulance were called to the Ladyhouse Close site in Milnerow.

Residents say they heard a “loud bang” that shook several houses before seeing streams of thick smoke. Then they heard “additional mini-explosions” coming from the fire.

Emergency services are on site and citizens are advised to avoid the area.

One resident said they were awakened by a “loud bang” that “shook the house”. Then they noticed “thick smoke” coming from behind their house. She said: “There were some additional mini-explosions that sounded like broken glass coming from the fire.

“We could not see from our house what exploded or caught fire, but we knew that this was one of the houses that was affected.

A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Police said: “Emergency services are currently responding to an incident at Ladyhouse Close, Milnrow. Police were called by ambulance around 10 a.m. this morning (Saturday, April 30, 2022). Citizens are urged to avoid the area. “

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said crews had been called in to report a vehicle fire at 9:55 a.m. this morning. The fire affected a car, as well as a fence and plastic gutters on a neighboring property, their statement said.
