Live Colwick fire updates as closing windows and doors reports problems to locals

Numerous fire crews are on the scene of a large fire in Nottingham on Easter Friday morning. Firefighters from London Road, Carlton, Arnold, Highfields and Edwinstow stations are at the scene of the fire in Colwick.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said 20 tonnes of rubbish were burning at the Bifa rubbish bin in the Colwick Industrial Zone. The crews were called around 8.35 this morning (Friday, April 15).

The tweet service said: “08:36 crews from # Stn03LondonRoad, # Stn27Carlton, # Stn26Arnold, # Stn29Highfields, # Stn06Edwinstowe attend the Biffa waste in Colwick. 20 tonnes were set on fire and 1 was used. “

In a statement, the service added: “We are currently witnessing a waste fire on Private Road, Colwick, where 20 tonnes of waste paper are burning. Crews from Carlton, London Road, Arnold, Highfields and Edwinstowe, including the Aerial Ladder Platform, are working to put out the blaze. “

Residents are urged to avoid the area and keep their doors and windows closed, the fire department said.
