Robertson shows the benefits of the transfer
Andy Robertson doesn’t score too often. But when they do, they tend to matter.
Only time will tell whether his opportunistic header from a distant post to break the deadlock against Everton will be as transformative as his strike from a similar position at Aston Villa during the 2019/20 championship victory campaign.
But the first goal for Kopp – and the way Robertson celebrates – was a well-deserved reward for the left-back’s desire and perseverance to move forward in the face of such awkward resistance from Everton.
Nor did he deviate from his responsibilities in defense, clearing the ball while Alex Iwobi was preparing to convert the concession of Dele Ali’s deputy when Everton pressed to equalize.
This season, Robertson is taking advantage not only of the race provided by Costas Tsimikas, but also of the casual rest that the Greek’s form allowed. Excellent against Manchester City and United last week, like many of his teammates, the Scot reached peak condition at the right time.

On the other flank, Trent Alexander-Arnold had a hard time with young Everton player Anthony Gordon, whose pace was the main output of the guests.
However, the right back was holding fast. For good reason, no team has kept more clean nets in the Premier League this season.
Origi deserves a new deal
Come on now. Did you really expect Divok Origi to allow his last Merseyside derby to pass without incident?
Despite the constant chatter of contracts around Liverpool, now they have to consider a unique deal. Wherever Origgi ends this summer – and Milan look like a good bet – the Reds would do well to arrange a rental move to bring the Belgian back specifically for this match.
Origi did what Origi did by stepping out of the bench to play an integral part in the smashing start of the game and then nodded in the second late, his sixth goal against Everton. Only Steven Gerrard has already scored more for the Reds against their neighbors in the Premier League.
Having long fallen in the pecking order, Origi has been virtually unseen this season, scoring just 101 minutes in the top league. But his contribution, as in the Wolverhampton Wanderers in December, was often decisive, which speaks volumes about the striker’s talent, but also about the mentality of making the most of every opportunity, no matter how fleeting.
The credit also goes to Klopp and his coaching staff, who realized the value of moving to the good old-fashioned 4-4-2 in Everton’s outwit.

“Legend,” Klopp of Origi said after the match. The striker may never face the true greats of Liverpool, but in terms of moments he is almost unsurpassed. His career is on the reds like no other.
Talks on Salah must be postponed
Possession is not everything. But the great weight of Liverpool’s dominance against Everton was highlighted by two outrageous statistics.
Thiago Alcantara finished the game with a pass accuracy of over 98% and made more assists than the entire Everton team combined. In contrast, rival midfielder Alan tried six passes in his 73 minutes on the field and made only two – both from the opening shot.
Although Thiago was not as prominent as he was against United last week, he remained influential, allowing Liverpool to ultimately take advantage of the control offered by Everton’s readiness to deepen.
In the end, however, it took a moment of skill from Mohamed Salah to unlock the door, a tasty, broken cross that garnered praise from Everton boss Frank Lampard.
Salah caused even more intrigue in the accumulation by releasing another interview, in which he once again bypassed the issue of his new contract.
We hope that such talks can be postponed until the summer. The Egyptian is clearly stuck between his teeth again. And with so much to play for the next five weeks, it can’t be compromised.
