Pep Guardiola can not imagine a repeat of the dramatic triumph of Manchester City for the title a decade ago – although they remain only a point ahead of Liverpool.
City led Manchester United to the Premier League crown in 2012 with a goal difference provided by the winner in the sequel to Sergio Aguero on the last day.
But Guardiola believes that the battle this season will be decided by points, given that Liverpool will have to end in a draw and City will lose to be the destination of the trophy determined by the best difference.
Man City boss Pep Guardiola can’t imagine his team winning the title by a margin
“I do not think this will happen. Maybe, but I don’t think so, “said Guardiola.
“The difference is one point. If we draw and they win, [Liverpool are ahead]. Of course, if we can score as many goals as possible, I encourage Newcastle to score as many goals as possible! ‘
Today, Liverpool faced Newcastle first at the lunchtime in St. James Park before the evening trip of City to Leeds United.
Guardiola insisted that Jurgen Klopp’s decision to extend his contract with Anfield until 2026 would not affect his own future.
The winner of the sequel to Sergio Aguero on the last day secured the City title in 2012.
As Sportsmail reported last month, the City has a feeling that Guardiola could commit after 2023.
The expected signing of Erling Haaland, which City is confident will provide, significantly strengthens their team before next season and they are looking for a central midfielder.
“I couldn’t imagine I was in a better place,” Guardiola said. “We have an amazing relationship with the directors. [But] honestly, i’m so busy with the last few weeks of the season.
“I enjoy this part of the season. I want us to be fresh in our minds, souls and feet. ‘

Guardiola also claims that a useless schedule is appropriate for the course if the teams want to lift every trophy after Klopp asked the league to move the match on Saturday amid a heavy turnaround from the middle of the week.
“How many times have we discussed what happened to us?” Guardiola said. “This will not change because TV operators are thinking about what they need to do to get more viewers.
“If I’m not happy, I’ll go home and not be the manager of Man City. I go to another league in the Maldives, the Maldives League, and I play one game a week and I’m so comfortable under the coconuts. It would be so perfect. But it’s not like that. You play at 12.30, I’m sorry for Liverpool, but I’m not involved. ‘
