Heading to the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday at Wembley, Liverpool and Manchester City will strive to take a step closer to history as the Reds try to win an unprecedented four, while Pep Guardiola’s team can take three trophies. from now until the end of the season.
City currently have a one-point advantage over the Merseyside club in the Premier League and the two sides appear to be on track to face each other in the Champions League final next month.
So Sportsmail experts Mika Richards, Peter Crouch, Chris Sutton and Martin Keun are predicting which teams will add more silverware to their collection in the last weeks of the campaign …
Manchester City and Liverpool can now fight each other in three races
HIGH LEAGUE
MAY RICHARDS – MAN MAN
Liverpool have a bit more difficult matches and I do not see that City loses its grip on the title challenge, which remains in their hands.
PETER CRUCCH – MAN CITY
They have a more comfortable clash and Pep Guardiola manages to get City to cross the league line so consistently that you can’t look beyond them.
CHRIS SUTON – LIVERPOOL
It’s so hard to pay and City have an easier match, but I have a feeling there will be a turnaround – and Liverpool’s strength in depth will allow them to beat City.
Kevin De Bruyne scored the first goal in a pulsating draw between the two sides last Sunday
MARTIN KAUN – MAN CITY
I gave advice to City at the beginning of the season and I will not change my decision now. They are a remarkable team working under an amazing manager and you would not leave behind the victory in your last seven games.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
RICHARDS – MAN MAN
I believe this will be the year for City, although much depends on the fitness of Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker, who will be a significant omission while on the sidelines. If they don’t come back quickly, I would tip Liverpool.
CRAUC – LIVERPOOL
That’s the experience, isn’t it? They’ve been there before and they did it under Jurgen Klopp, and Liverpool are such a devastating team for the cup.
Liverpool have won the Champions League now under Jurgen Klopp and should play Villarreal
SUTON – MANN CITY
Guardiola’s men cannot continue to lag behind in the Champions League. The victory over Atletico Madrid showed real resilience and could be a sign that this is City’s season.
KEOWN – MAN CITY
City have just gone through an epic battle with Atletico. But they will have time to catch their breath and go back to the Champions League and I think now is their time to win this race.
FA CUP
RICHARDS – LIVERPOOL
They arrive at Wembley on Saturday without an internal defeat in 2022 and will be greatly strengthened by their performance in the second half of the Etihad last weekend.
With City lacking key players, I think they can cross the line.
CRAUC – CHELSEA
The eyes of the other two big ones, Liverpool and City, are looking for bigger prizes and I think that will offer Chelsea a chance to grab this one.
Chelsea may still prevent both sides from making a clean-up as they are still in the FA Cup
SUTON – LIVERPOOL
They will send City without De Bruyne and Walker and with the advantage of resting on key players in the Champions League this week.
I’m sorry for Chelsea and Crystal Palace, but I think the winner should come from this semi-final.
KAUN – LIVERPOOL
The time for Liverpool’s semi-final with City is better for Klopp and his players. They managed to make changes to their clash with Benfica, while City lost key men in their blue clash with Atletico. So this is an advantage for Liverpool.
