Man “run over and killed” by police car in handcuffs while dying, witnesses say

Law enforcement officers detained and chained the economist’s son while he was dying after being hit by an unmarked police car, according to witnesses.

The video shows Arthur Holscher-Ermert, 27, on his back afterwards, with police officers trying to resuscitate him as passers-by shout, “You killed him.”

Mr Holscher-Ermert could be heard moaning in pain in another clip as he was held face down on the road after Saturday night’s collision in Peacehaven, East Sussex.

Mr Holscher-Ermert, whose father Jens Holscher is an economist at the University of Bournemouth, died on the spot after being hit by a black BMW driven by Sussex police.

A friend said they thought Mr Holcher-Ermert was being prosecuted for driving without insurance, but police did not comment on the alleged violation.

The man was in pain and shock

Witnesses told The Times that a police car turned over the center line to hit Mr Holscher-Emert, who was on foot.

Police then handcuffed the man as he lay on the ground, bleeding from his head.

A random person, only named Matt, told the newspaper he was about 60 yards away when Mr Holscher-Emmert was shot down.

He told The Times: “Their blue lights came on and the BMW veered off the road and collided with the man. They must have been moving at about 30 miles per hour. The man was halfway there. The police car veered off the road to hit him. ”

Matt and his friends ran out to see what had happened, and he took pictures on his phone.

“He was rolling on the floor in pain and shock. There was a pool of blood around him and they were still trying to handcuff him.

“My friend kept his head until he died. The cop who drove the car didn’t know what to do. He tried to say he didn’t, but we saw him, “Matt said.

Colored reverence is accumulating

Mr Holcher-Ermert’s family called for justice.

His brother, Karl Holcher-Ermert, posted on social media: “Last night around midnight, my brother was run over and killed by the police. Calm down there, my boy. Take care of your mother and make sure you hold her tight by me.

“If you have any information or evidence, please forward it to me so we can find out what happened, as the Sussex police have not yet contacted us about the incident.

Flowers were erected at the A259 junction in honor of Mr. Holscher-Ermert, a “hero.”

A man who gave his name as Jason told The Times: “Police were judges, jurors and executioners on Saturday night. I know he was driving uninsured and one or two unmarked police cars were chasing him.

“He’s a little boy like me. I don’t care what anyone did, it doesn’t entitle them. Whatever it is, the courts decide. They have no right to mow it like that.

“If he was a terrorist, be sure to use all force. They cut it down. Several of my friends sent me the footage. “

“Tragic incident”

Sussex police said the matter was referred to the Independent Police Conduct Service (IOPC), which will conduct an independent investigation as it is linked to a police vehicle.

Chief Superintendent Joe Banks said: “This is a tragic incident and we fully support the IOPC investigation. We want to thank the drivers and residents for their patience while the A259 South Coast Road was closed.

An IOPC spokesman said: “We launched an independent investigation into police actions before the fatal road crash involving a pedestrian on Dorothy Avenue in Peeshaven, Louis last night. A man in his 20s unfortunately died on the spot.

“We were informed of the incident by the Sussex police and sent investigators to the scene and police procedures after the incident to begin our investigations. At the moment, our thoughts are with the man’s family. “
