Real Madrid missed out on a huge opportunity to sign Erling Haaland this summer from Borussia Dortmund. Manchester City are believed to have signed the Norwegian superstar for a transfer fee of around €60m, thanks to a release clause. It is proving to be the deal of the season as he has made an incredible start to the Premier League.

It’s hard to think of anyone who has come in and dominated the Premier League like Haaland. Most likely, there is no such example in history.

According to Transfermarkt stats, Haaland has scored 14 goals and provided 3 assists in 8 Premier League appearances so far. To call it extraordinary would be an understatement. This is something even beyond that and if he can continue to perform like this, he will break many records.

Perhaps naturally, Real Madrid have already been linked with a future move for Haaland, who is rumored to have a €200 million release clause that will become active in the summer of 2024. But Manchester City appear ready to give them a transfer blow in that regard already.

As reported by the Daily Star, Manchester City are likely to terminate Haaland’s contract and give him a new one – if he continues to grab goals at such a prolific rate.

Haaland is already Manchester City’s top earner alongside Kevin De Bruyne, but could be in line for a pay rise in just a few months’ time, following his “special” start to life in English football.

Of course, this would be a blow to Real Madrid’s hopes of signing him in the summer of 2024, as Manchester City will surely look into that as well. Let’s see where things go from here.
