Megan Markle is praised for her kindness after donating her coat to a mother holding a baby while appearing for the first time at Invictus Games with her husband Prince Harry.
On Friday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were escorted to a place in The Hague, the Netherlands, by contestants when Megan reportedly noticed a fever and handed over her coat to a woman holding her baby while accompanying them, according to journalist Omid Scoby.
Scobie shared a heartbreaking video from the moment on Twitter on Friday, in which the Duchess can be seen walking next to the woman who had wrapped her baby in a long camel coat.
“On the way to the scene, the couple was escorted by contestants and a family from #TeamNetherlands – one of whom proudly carried a newborn,” the royal reporter wrote. “Noticing the sudden drop in temperature, Megan quickly handed over her coat to the mother to help keep the baby warm.”
The moment, which was also captured and shared on Twitter from another angle, drew praise from fans of the royal couple.
“A good mother is a good mother to everyone’s children,” one wrote, and another said, “Despite everything, she hasn’t changed, she’s still kind and considerate.”
Others speculate that Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, will be proud, as someone else wrote: “Harry has found an amazing caring woman. His mother would be proud. “
The gesture took place as Harry and Megan, who chose an all-white Valentino suit for their first public appearance in Europe in 2020, attended a friend and family reception for Invictus Games on Friday.
The couple’s appearance is the first of the Invictus Games and follows a brief visit to Britain, where the Duchess and Duchess visited Prince Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The opening ceremony of the Invictus Games will take place on Saturday night.
