Meta is reportedly aiming to launch four new VR headsets by 2024

Meta is obviously going high speed with upcoming releases for its VR headset line. There are reportedly four VR headsets in the process of being released by 2024, according to an internal card released by The Information.

Two of these Meta headphones are the successors to Quest 2 at different levels. The headphones with a higher budget will be released in 2023, while the budget ones will be released next year. When the game-focused VR headphones are released, they will remove the Oculus name that the headphones were previously known for, and will presumably be known as Meta Quest 3.

Other headphones are more focused on work. one of them is Project Cambria, which was supposed to be released last year but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The device will lend itself to augmented and virtual reality headphones. This is done thanks to the device’s outward-facing cameras, which would basically allow users to see through the headphones in real time thanks to the full-color switching function.

The VR device will also feature a high-resolution screen that is said to be usable for extended periods of time, making users feel tired. In addition, these long sessions are possible thanks to a large battery pack, which can add more weight to the overall handset and, if it is a problem, can lead to door problems for users.

Although it is possible, it remains to be seen, as the handset is not in the hands of ordinary users, but Meta employees move it while calling the Cambria “laptop for the face”. Looking at Zuckerberg’s comments from last week, the company’s founder really believes in the device and sees that working VR headphones could eventually replace a whole setup of a working laptop. Following the launch of Project Cambria, Meta is releasing an updated version of Cambria, known as Project Funston in 2024.

“We also build eye tracking and face tracking so that your avatar can make eye contact and facial expressions, which dramatically improves your sense of presence,” Zuckerberg said in a revelation last week via IGN.
