Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has called on global companies to leave Russia, saying on Tuesday that organizations that remain in the country “directly support this military machine, the terrorist military machine of the Russian Federation.”
The Ukrainian leader, whose remarks were interpreted live in English, spoke via video link to the summit meeting of the Board of Directors of the Wall Street Journal in London. “Leaving the Russian market is mandatory,” he said.
Anthony Radakin, the chief of the British Defense Staff, said at the summit that he believed that Russian President Vladimir Putin was showing the traits of an autocratic leader who was becoming increasingly isolated. “Decision-making rarely improves and decision-making deteriorates,” Radakin said, adding that Russia’s campaign was marked by “shocking intelligence failures” and “incredible arrogance.”
