NB woman charged after head-on collision with RCMP vehicle

TRACADIE–SHEILA, NB –

A 50-year-old New Brunswick woman is facing a charge of driving while impaired after a head-on collision with a fully marked RCMP vehicle in the Village of Tracadie.

The Mounties say the collision happened June 29 around 8:20 p.m. on Route 11 when the SUV was traveling the wrong way on an on-ramp.

The police vehicle sustained extensive damage, with the officer trapped inside.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene, but was found in tall grass about 300 meters away.

The suspect was unharmed and the officer suffered minor injuries.

The accused is due to appear in court on February 24, 2023.
