An MP under investigation for allegedly watching pornography in the municipality should be expelled from the Tory party if convicted, the minister said.
Neil Parish, whose conservative whip was stopped on Friday, said he had opened a file by mistake, but would only resign if convicted.

Speaking to Sky News, Defense Secretary Rachel McLean maintained that the MP should be expelled from the party if convicted.
She said: “It is clear that if this is justified and these allegations turn out to be true, of course I support what I said, but at the same time there is an investigation now, so it would not be useful for me to speculate on concrete results.
“This type of behavior has no place in any workplace, let alone parliament, but I think everyone would accept that when there is an accusation … it’s not really for us, as colleagues, to judge another colleague, this the process must continue. “
She added: “I do not see why the investigation cannot be completed very quickly and I am sure that appropriate action will follow.”
On Friday, Mr Parish, an MP from Tiverton and Honiton, asked at his home in Somerset if he had opened a file “by mistake” and said: “I did, but let the investigation look into it”.
He said he would wait for the findings of the investigation while he continues to “perform his duties”, but “will not stay” if he is found guilty.
“I will fully co-operate in any investigation and while it is ongoing, I will continue to serve as Member of Parliament for Tiverton and Honiton,” he wrote on his website.

Mr Parish, who was removed from the party on Friday, said he would “fully comply” with the investigation, apologizing and revealing that he had told his wife only this afternoon.
Sue Parish, with whom he has been married for 40 years, said the whole episode was “just a little silly” and the accusations were “very embarrassing.”
Asked if her husband had watched porn before, she told The Times: “No. He’s a perfectly normal person, really. He is a wonderful man. It’s just so stupid.
“People should not watch pornography. He will never sit there with the people watching. [people were looking].
